Durango is one of the USA's Most Bike Friendly Communities
Durango was one of the newest additions to "gold" status in the League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly Communities rankings. The program annually awards towns and cities with gold, silver or bronze status according to how well they promote cycling, provide infrastructure, enact pro-cycling policies and support related education programs.

Durango boasts 300 miles of mountain bike trails and a growing network of city bike lanes, and cycling is "integral to the town's culture and identity," the league said in a statement. And with the 2012 Pro Cycling Challenge coming up we're certain that Durango is deserving of this gold status.
Fourteen other communities claim BFC gold status. They include: Breckenridge, Colo.; Corvallis, Ore.; Eugene, Ore.; Fort Collins, Colo.; Jackson Teton County, Wyo.; Madison, Wis.; Minneapolis; Palo Alto, Calif.; San Francisco; Scottsdale, Ariz.; Seattle; Stanford University; Calif.; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and Tucson.
