Feature Friday - Silverpick Lodge

This week's Feature Friday is a new addition to Durango.com, Silverpick Lodge.  Silverpick is located on Durango Mountain and is the perfect place for a mountain vacation.  Owner, Chris Wing has answered today's five Feature Friday questions.

1. You have several different lodging options from lodge rooms, condos and townhomes, what's the difference and which are your most popular?

Lodge rooms are like hotel rooms.  Down comforters, flat screens, mountain views but no cooking facilities.  If you stay in the lodge you have access to the hot tubs, sauna, steam shower, game room, breakfast room and the Sow's Ear Steakhouse.  Condos and townhomes are like fully furnished apartments.  People who rent them have access to a hot tub located in the condominium cluster.

2. Guests to Silverpick can rent out the entire lodge, is this typically used for weddings and large events? What is your most popular season to "rent the lodge"?

People rent the lodge during the summer and fall for two and three day weddings.  All summer long and over the Christmas holidays people rent the lodge for family reunions that last up to a week.  Before Christmas, groups rent the lodge for Christmas parties and company retreats.  During the winter church groups and school groups rent the lodge for ski vacations and retreats.

3. What makes Silverpick unique from other Durango lodging options?

You can rent a condo at Silverpick for the price of a hotel room in Durango.  People come to Colorado to see the mountains.  We are in the mountains, Durango is not.  The lodge is the only place you can stay for a weekend wedding with just your guests and never have to get back into your car.

4.  What's your favorite way to spend a day in Durango?

Hiking through the mountains.

5.  What do you think is Durango's best kept secret?

Silverpick Lodge, The Community Concert Hall.
