Feature Friday - Puragtory Rentals and Caretaking
This week's Feature Friday Purgatory Rentals. Purg Rentals has a variety of wonderful lodging options that are made up of condos and townhomes at Durango Mountain Resort as well as private homes and cabins that are located on acreage. "Mac" and Kimberly Mackey own and operate Purg Rentals and Kimberly has answered today's five Feature Friday questions.
1. Durango Purgatory Rentals and Caretaking have some really great lodging options. Can you tell me a little bit about your different condos, townhomes and rentals?
We have a nice range of lodging options from large luxury ski in ski out townhomes to little cabins in the woods. In the summer a lot of folks love to be in a cabin in the woods or on a creek with views and hot tubs. It just gives you a real feel of the Colorado experience. Large families might enjoy a large luxury home on two acres with incredible lake and mountain views. The condos/townhomes of course are great in the winter for our skiing customers but in the summer the rates really drop to provide a real bargain. Not to mention summer at Durango Mt Resort is special in its own right.
2. Which of these are your favorite and why?
I would say The Purgatory Point House is my favorite. The location is just beautiful! It is located on two wooded acres and to sit in the hot tub overlooking the lake with mountain views and at the same time hearing Cascade Creek running through the property is just magical. It is close enough to all the amenities of downtown Durango and Durango Mt Resort but you have a nice sense of isolation.
3. You also offer ski lessons, tell me about those, were are the lessons given?
Unfortunately, my husband Ed Mackey has had some health problems so he is no longer teaching skiing. But we can certainly give recommendations to great instructors at Durango Mt Resort.
4. What is your favorite way to spend a day in Durango?
My favorite day in the summer is canoing or fishing on Electra Lake. It is peaceful and quiet and the views are drop dead gorgeous!! In the summer, of course I love enjoying a blue bird day on the slopes at Durango Mt Resort.
5. What do you think is Durango's best kept secret?
I would say Electra Lake is the best kept secret. Even though you pay a fee to use the lake, it is just so beautiful and accessible that it makes it worth it. Of course, we love cooking up the trout we catch for dinner. We love also having dinner on the lake in the summer. Scott and Joey Hughes who run the restaurant are wonderful!!
