1. Kogan Builders builds some beautiful homes! Are all your homes built specifically for the buyer or do you also build homes to sell?

Kogan Builders builds both custom homes for our clients as well as building homes for sale.  However, with the recent housing industry challenges over the past few years, the risks associated with speculative building and the associated financing challenges have signigicantly curtailed this type of construction for the near term.  Kogan Builders has also built home to suit.  In other words the buyer closes on the home once completed.

2. Kogan is a "green builder" tell me a little about what that means?

Green building is a very general term that has many different meanings to people.  Green building in general means taking into account lot design, resource efficiency, energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and home operation.  At Kogan Builders we have three employees who are NAHB green certified and green building techniques are factored into our design/build process.  A big part of Kogan Builders responsibility is to educate our clients on green building products and systems so they may decide to what extent they incorporate green into their homes.

3. What is unique about Kogan Builders compared to other Real Estate and building companies in Durango?   

Kogan Builders has been building custom homes in the Durango area for over 13 years and is one of the most successful builders in the Southwest Colorado.  One of the reasons for our success is our design/build philosophy.  Our design team works with our clients to ensure a house becomes a home and can built for the client’s budget.    

4. What's your favorite way to spend a day in Durango?

Durango is very much an active, outdoor community.  Whether it’s hiking, cycling, rafting, snow shoeing, skiing or just enjoying the natural beauty of the area – there is something for everyone. 

5. What do you think is Durango's best kept secret? 

Durango itself.  So many people are unaware of what this area has to offer.  From the downtown area with its shopping and restaurants to our beautiful San Juan Mountains and 14,000 foot peaks.  Also the fact that Durango, while it depends on tourism, is not a resort town like a Vail or Telluride.  We are a real town with real people that both locals and visitors really like.  At Kogan Builders we always try to point this out to our out of town clients but once the visit the area, they can easily see it for themselves.
