Feature Friday - Siesta Motel
This week's Feature Friday is the Siesta Motel. The Siesta is known for its iconic cactus sign, if you've been to Durango you know the sign. Today, Marlene has answered our five questions for Feature Friday!
1. The Siesta Motel is famous for the big cactus sign, what's the story behind that?
Famous for the Free Rooms Just kidding on the Great Neon Sign that reads on the North side. That sign is more photographed then you can imagine. We have been in several magazines. And in many family pictures, people stop and get out of their cars to take pictures of the sign, they love that sign.
2. What's your favorite season in Durango and why?
Fall is the most beautiful season in Durango, with the clean crisp air, and the changing of the tree colors. And there is nothing like a Winter Wonder Land for Christmas.
3. What's your favorite way to spend a day in Durango?
Shopping downtown in the Designated Historical District and then dinning at the many great restaurants that we have in Durango. Ending a wonderful day at a great place to lay your head at the Siesta Motel to rest easy.
4. What are some of your visitor's favorite things to do while visiting Durango?
The Durango Silverton Train, is a must do if you are in this part of our Great Country. And of course the Bar-D Chuck wagon also a must do.
5. What do you think is Durango's best kept secret?
The Siesta Motel, we are family owned and operated since 1975, we live on property, and we are the real deal Mom and Pop Motel. Clean and comfortable!
