Feature Friday - Vallecito Lake Lodging

This week we are featuring Vallecito Lake Lodging which consists of Lone Wolf Lodge, Eagles Nest Cabins & Homes and Bear Paw Lodge.  Three fantastic lodging properties in Vallecito Lake.  Bob from Lone Wolf has taken the time to answer these five questions.

1.  VLL consists of three different lodging properties, all cabins and  vacation homes, what is unique to each property?

Each property has a number of tastefully decorated and unique  cabins, of varying sizes, on their individual properties. In addition  they all offer quite a range of private vacation homes.

2.  What kind of activities are available at the properties?

Activities at each of the properties consist of the average yard  games and playgrounds. The biggest draw is our area - Vallecito Lake is a real vacation destination. Most guests take advantage of activities offered close by and use their accommodations as a headquarters for visiting Durango and the Four Corners area.

3.  What is your favorite way to spend a day in Durango?

Durango offers a number of great dining spots and a good number of rafting businesses. So a few hours on the river followed by a nice meal would be our choice.

4.  Why would you suggest a visitor stay in a vacation home or cabin vs. a hotel?

Cabins and vacation homes offer tourists a home away from home. If they choose they can use the fully equipped kitchens at meal time but most of all the typical cabin offers a lot of square footage which to spread out after a long day.

5.  What do you think is Durango's best kept secret?

As strange as it may sound, Vallecito Lake is Durango's best kept secret. The average visitor to the Durango area is unaware that just 18 miles northeast is one of the most beautiful mountain valleys in Colorado, complete with a large lake and associated water activities. With the valley's proximity to the U.S. Forest, a forest Wilderness Area, wildlife, scenery, hiking and horseback you have the largest resort area near the town of Durango.

I am always so worried that there will be bears when I camp in a place like this! But I guess that is just part of nature!
