Durango has quite a few races and bike rides coming up this summer so be sure to check some of them out!

The first two events are runs in Durango.  The first is the Steamworks Animas Valley Half Marathon next weekend, June 11.  There's an 8:00 a.m. start at Baker's Bridge and the finish is at the Durango Sports Club.  Sign up Today! The next event is the Backcountry Experience Firecracker Fun Run and 5K on July 3rd. Durango Mountain Resort hosts the Firecracker Fun Run and 5K. Registration for the free race meets from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the base of the six pack.  Sign Up! 

The Durango 100 Century Bike Tour is next on the schedule on July 24.  This will be the 10th annual Durango 100 Century which has always been held on the final day of the Tour de France.  It’s a fun, fast, scenic loop that descends from the San Juan Mountains of Durango to the Mesas of Farmington returning near the La Plata Mountains.  Over 4000 feet total vertical gain.  There is also an alternate start in Farmington.  Early registration is $35 through July 10, after $40. We have two more fun events happening in August.  The Durango Parks and Recreation Triathlon is August 6 and this will be the 8th annual Durango Parks and Rec Triathlon.  It is a great race for the beginner triathlete and the seasoned veteran.   Begins and ends at the Durango Rec Center.  Includes a 500 yard swim in the lap pool, a 13 mile bike ride and a 5K run.  Racers may participate individually or as a team.  $45 individual and $90 for teams.  Durango Parks and Recreation Triathlon Sign Up.  Following the Triathlon is the Durango Mountain Resort 10K Trail Race on August 7.  This is a challenging mountain course that will take runners along 6.2 miles of Purgatory’s trail system.
