Durango Blues Train
Look out Durango, we've got a new event coming to town this year! The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival present the inaugural Durango Blues Train 'Blues on the Rails' taking place June 4, 2011. Join us for a "rolling" party on the tracks! This event will feature 2 full bands, 5 solo artists, ten vintage rail cars and 300 excited music and train lovers from all over, for Durango's very own moving musical experience. The Durango Blues Train will feature 3 hours of live, rockin blues while traveling by a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive through the spectacular and breathtaking canyons of the San Juan National Forest. Acts including the Otis Taylor Band, Erik Boa and the Constrictors, John-Alex Mason, Bruce Hayes, Robby Overfield, Skip Daddy-Dave Anderson, and Big Jim Adam & John Stilwagen perform in their own vintage carriage cars, as listeners dance and sample tunes while traveling from one railcar to next. Entertainment and favorite libations are peppered with the scenery of the famous train featured in the Hollywood production, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
Guests enjoy live blues and a full cash bar with microbrews, wines, and cocktails while riding the rails. The train boards at 6:45 PM from the Durango train depot, hits the tracks at 7:15 pm, and arrives back in Durango at 10:10 PM on June 4, 2011. Tickets are $95 per person, plus handling fees. Tickets are extremely limited and purchasers must be 21 years old to participate.
