Civil War Event at the Animas Museum
The Animas Museum will host a special event this Saturday, April 30th, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to commemorate the start of the Civil War. The festivities will begin with a flag-raising by the Colorado Mounted Rangers, followed by a program by the local Victorian Aid Society in period attire. The presentation, entitled “Old Wounds & a New Community: Impacts of the Civil War on Southwest Colorado,” will examine some of the Civil War veterans who founded our communities. Afterwards, sample cakes created from period recipes and learn how food was prepared for the troops. Children can write a “secret spy message” in invisible ink with a quill pen. Please join us for this special event. The museum is located at the corner of 31st Street and West 2nd Avenue. Call 259-2402 or click for more information.
