Durango Winter Memories
Durango is such a beautiful place during the winter months! Not only are there many beautiful mountains and sceneries to enjoy but don't forget all the fun there is to be had in Durango during the cold, snowy winters! We recently asked our facebook fans to share a favorite Durango winter memory and their responses were just too good to not share!
Dixie writes, "When I was in grade school the schools had sleds for us to use. We would spend our recess outside sledding on the hill. That was a fun time. Also we had ice skates and would ice skate on a pond that was made for us by the city. What great times we had. My grade school is now the museum. Ha Ha do you know how long ago that was???"
Laurie says, "Once upon a time, when that corner where Third Ave meets Florida Rd (14th?) It was a dirt road. I remember my mom telling me about sledding down that one...THAT's a HILL!!!!"
Susan writes, "I grew up in Durango in the 40's & 50's, when I was a child we lived on 14th street, they would close the street from 3rd ave. to main street so we could sled down the hill after 5pm. Oh yeah we also jumped off the rock wall across the hill going up to the old Junior high school the snow was so deep and would take a long time to try to dig out. Those were the day's.....(It was great growing up in Durango) ♥"
