Weekend Snow in Durango!

Snow, snow and more snow on the way!  The snow storm over the weekend brought in seven and half inches into town, and Purgatory is reporting two feet of new snow from the weekend!  What in the forecast? More snow!  Looks like a Pacific storm also known as a Pineapple Express will be hitting the San Juan Mountains this week. Forecasters say the higher elevations of the San Juans could get up to six feet of snow!  In the lower elevations, including Durango, we will see light snow and possibly some rain throughout the week into late Thursday.

Currently with all the new snow and great conditions at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort they have 6 lifts and 53 trails open.  Lifts 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 & 9 are serving the 53 open trails, 32 trails are groomed and the crews are working hard to pack and groom so lifts 5 & 8 can open.  Officials at DMR are expecting anywhere from two to three feet of additional snow this week through Thursday with the help of the Pineapple Express storm.

Other area storm totals: Wolf Creek Ski Area 37 inches, 15.5 inches on Red Mountain Pass, 13.5 inches on Molas Pass, 9.7 inches in Durango West II subdivision and about 5 inches in Pagosa Springs.
