This Week in Durango
Thanksgiving week is always busy! Preparing the turkey for Thanksgiving lunch, making plans with family and friends and holiday shopping on black Friday, just to name a few things on the "to do" list. Well, this week Durango has even more things to add to that as we have some fun and exciting things going on this week!
First on the list is a ride on the Polar Express Train! Rides started on the 20th and will run through December 28, we hope you can join us on a fun train ride where the award-winning book comes to life on this magical journey. All passengers will enjoy the Polar Express story on the way to the North Pole, hot
chocolate and a treat served by your personal chef, and Christmas carols on the return to Durango. All kids aboard the train receive a special gift from Santa!
The next big event is HOLiDAZZLE kickoff on Friday, November 26. The annual Durango promotion designed to boost retail traffic and subsequently sales revenues in and around Downtown Durango, officially kicks off the day after Thanksgiving– the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. This year HOLiDAZZLE will kick off with "Singing with Santa" a fun parade that will lead to Buckley Park where Santa will count down to light the majestic Christmas tree! The parade will begin at 5:30 at College and Main where everyone will be provided with glowsticks for the parade.
Also happening on Friday, November 26, Durango Mountain Resort will celebrate their opening day! Friday they will be offering top to bottom skiing and riding serviced by the high-speed six-pack chairlift.
A fun "Durango locals" focused event is Local Appreciation Days at the D&SNGRR, this event kicks off Sunday, November 28 and runs through December 17. Make sure you take advantage of the discounted prices for locals and enjoy the winter Durango scenery.
