News for Durango Mountain Resort's Upcoming 2009-2010 Season

On the slopes for the 2009-2010 season, Purgatory will unveil 125 acres of new, expert terrain, slated to open on December 20. The Legends Expansion increases Purgatory’s expert terrain by 30 percent and extends the resort’s western boundary to include 1,200 additional vertical feet of steep tree-skiing. The project marks the first major expansion of terrain at Purgatory since the 1980s and expands our total skiable acreage by 10 percent to 1,325 acres.

Also, Purgatory will be open for extended weekend skiing and riding from March 27 through the end of April, weather permitting. All passholders, including weekday passholders, can take advantage of these bonus days of spring skiing.

Just for locals, Purgatory has increased its number of discounted Local’s Days (one per month, December through March) and added four discounted College Days (one per month, December through March) and a new Friday Afternoon Club. The Friday Afternoon Club features discounted full-day and half-day lift ticket and meal packages, plus drink specials.

Twin-tippers can perfect their terrain park skills in our new beginners terrain park, designed to help with skill progression. Also, new hits will be strategically placed below Lower Bank to help funnel Pitchfork terrain park traffic out of Demon and into the DC terrain park.
